B&W Wednesday
I have been working on my black and white conversions lately. I find that they are actually a bit tougher sometimes than color to get looking decent. I suppose it is all in your specific taste, but I happened to like these today.

Weekend fun!
We had a great weekend of (mostly) fun. Aside from the rain on Saturday and the visit to the urgent care for a weird bug bite, we managed to eat ice cream and play at the park. The weather is dreary now but I'm hoping for the sun to return soon!

iphone friday fun!
Just a few images from the past week that I captured on my phone. We had lots of fun visiting the farmer's market, playing with pigs in purses and hanging out at the lake!

Lemonade anyone?
Lemonade stands are the classic summer time kids activity. We don't live on a super busy street so the only customers were the neighbors but for a three and five year old I suppose it doesn't really matter. Really, what could be better on a hot summer day?

At the park
I walked up to the park last night with my son, my next door neighbor and her granddaughter. The park is the perfect place to capture kids at their happiest. Thanks Lauren and Jude for being great subjects!

In the bed
This is my series called "in the bed". Sometimes I get bored and think that there is nothing to photograph until I upload recent photos and realize that my everyday life is subject enough. It's fun though to have themes or projects..just keeps things interesting.

Weekend in Omaha
We just got back from a nice little family vacation to the grandparents house in Omaha. We celebrated a 100th birthday, went swimming and ate some good food! Overall, A nice summer road trip!

Another winner...
Well, i don't watch OWN but now i am definitely not going to start and this is why.
Do we really even care what Lindsay Lohan is up to and how she is recovering from whatever addiction she has? Seriously, I have better things to do with my time.
Faux (cheap!) tattoos
I love interesting tattoos but am a little hesitant to get anything major because it's just so permanent! So, as an alternative I have found this great company and this weekend they are having a 50% off sale, yay!
Happy Tattooing!

It's never just one thing
My son is a demanding child. Demanding of my time, my energy, my love and my attention, all day everyday, except when he is in school. He is also sweet, polite (mostly), enthusiastic and a very loving little boy. When I have had a particularly rough day with him it would be so great to just have a reason as to why (why?!), aside from the "he's three" excuse. But, like most things in life, no one thing is usually the culprit. Yes, he probably has not had enough sleep or he drank too many juice boxes or his environment hasn't been as consistent as usual. There are a million things that could be contributing to his moods...including my moods. That is why I like this essay so much....there never is just one thing, or an easy fix. We are a complex species, that is what makes us unique! It's ok to have days when you are sad, or anxious, or upset, and I'm trying to be more understanding that it is ok, especially for a three year old, to cycle through these emotions on a sometimes hourly basis. I'm not downplaying the possibility that there could be an underlying condition that may need a diagnosis, for him, or for anyone. Sometimes, though, things are the way they are and we will never know why other than that is the way they just happen to be.
My weekend in photos
Our weekend was filled with water slides, fireworks and eating hotdogs with friends. Overall a great summer weekend! Also a big thanks to my friend's husband who fixed our pipes so we could wash our dishes.
Also, my website is up and running if you would like to take a look at more of my photography:)

A new neighborhood joint
The other night I had the good fortune of being able to check out the Broder's T3RZO vino bar. This is the newest edition to the Broder's restaurant family in Minneapolis. I met a friend there and lucky for me I arrived just early enough to be kindly offered a few samples of some new local brews. Delicious! One was actually fermented with Watermelon...how crazy is that?! Anyway, great beer for summer or maybe in the winter when all you can do is think about summer.
This place has a great wine list and all their wine that they serve by glass and carafe is kept in an oxygen free temperature controlled cabinet. The wine is poured through what can only be described as a high class soda dispenser. It is very cool, I would recommend checking it out.
The wine bar is only a month old so I can imagine they are still working out a few bugs. The only complaint I had was my truffle and mushroom bruschetta was very under seasoned...minor but enough that I noticed. The wine, beer list and atmosphere are all amazing and i'm hoping that the food will be up to the same standard the next time I moped myself over there.

A very happy 4th and a 1st!
Happy 4th of July everyone!
Today was a beautiful day outside and we spent it lounging by the pool and celebrating a 1st birthday. His older sister has been a friend of my son's since he was 8 weeks old! Crazy, right?! The kids played, ate cake and opened presents.
If somebody is still awake tonight, we might even fit in a bit of fireworks..
Have a safe and happy rest of the day!
